BEACHES WERE LOCATED ALONG THE BOSPHORUS AND ON THE PRINCE’S ISLANDS. THEY INCLUDED NECESSARY FACILITIES SUCH AS CHANGING CABINS (MOSTLY TEMPORARY ONES), BATHROOMS AND SHOWERS ETC. THEY ALSO HAD SNACK BARS SOMETIMES THAT SERVED FOOD THAT ARE CALLED GAZINOS AND TURNED INTO “CLUBS” AT NIGHT OR WITH ENTERTAINING ACTIVITIES FROM CONCERTS TO BEAUTY PAGEANTS. IT IS KNOWN THAT PEOPLE LIVING NEARBY SOMETIMES ROWED WITH BOATS TO THE SHORES AND LISTENED TO THE SHOWS IN THE GAZINOS. IN THE LACK OF GAZINOS, MOBILE VENDERS PROVIDED THE FOOD AND OTHER NEEDS. OTHER THAN THESE, THE SANDY BEACHES WERE LEFT FREE FOR THE VISITORS USE AND APPROPRIATIONS WITH TOWELS, PORTABLE SEATS AND UMBRELLAS.
